How do credits work?
Thumbstop uses a credit-based system. Everything that generates new media costs credits, and the cost depends on what you are generating:
- Generating images — each variation is charged individually, and the cost per image depends on the AI model, resolution, and quality level you choose. Higher resolutions and premium models cost more credits per image.
- Editing an image— the “Make a change” action generates a completely new image based on your feedback, so it is charged like a fresh generation with the settings you pick.
- Resizing an image — converting an image to a different format (e.g. a square into a Story) also generates a new image and costs credits.
- Animating an image into video — video generation is priced per second of footage, and the rate depends on the video model and resolution. Longer, higher-resolution clips cost more.
What happens when a generation fails?
Credits are only spent on successful generations. If a generation fails, the credits for the failed assets are automatically refunded to your balance.
Pro tip
If you only need minor edits — like changing a headline or adjusting a color — consider downloading the image and editing it in Canva or Photoshop. This saves credits for bigger creative changes.
What if I run out of credits?
You can upgrade your subscription to get more monthly credits, or — on any active paid plan — purchase additional credits as a one-time top-up without changing your plan. Top-up packs stack with your plan credits and stay valid for 12 months from purchase.
